but there was a self imposed band by the terrorist Won't allow Pandit townships: NC Srinagar: But J&K Will Go Ahead With It, S Opposition National Conference on Saturday said they will not let the Jammu & Kashmir government to set up separate colonies for Kashmiri Pandits but would strive for return of the minority community to their native places in the Valley .The statements came even as J&K's deputy CM Nirmal Singh said that the state will go ahead with the plan. We are against separate clusters for Kashmiri Pandits. We welcome them (to Kashmir), but we will not let the government create separate colonies for them, NC general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar told reporters during a pro test rally against the new recruitment policy of the state. On the issue of presence of Pakistani flags at a rally led by hardline Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani at Tral in south Kashmir on Friday , Sagar said that ìs there is no big deal in it. There are people who like Pakistan, there are people who want freedom and they do such things. There is no big deal in it, he said. Hurriyat Conference, however, justified its actions, its spokesman Ayaz Akbar saying that the sentiment for Pakistan in Kashmir is alive.Youth generally express their love for the country by waiving Pakistani flags. Earlier in the day , Pakistan's foreign ministry spokesperson Tasneem Aslam had added fuel to the controversy surrounding the proposed Pandit townships, saying that such a move would violate UN Security Council resolutions. Reacting to the statement, Union home minister Rajnath Singh said that Pakistan should worry about themselves and not interfere in India's internal mattersì. Union finance minister Arun Jaitley also dismissed the remark, saying that the community , along with Muslims and Sikhs, is an integral part of the state.

Skiing Must Knows

Your handbook to success on the slopes

FALLING

helmet can prevent serious and life-threatening injuries.
Falling is an inevitable part of a day on the slopes, and there is a right (and wrong) way to fall.
MCL tears commonly occur when a skier recognizes they are going to fall and overcorrects by stiffening up to regain composure.
If you fall, you should:
Go with the flow of the fall. Keep your knees flexed until you have stopped sliding.
Tuck your body inward. Protect your limbs and face by bringing them toward your core.
Stay down until you have stopped sliding. Attempting to get back up while still moving makes you more vulnerable for injury.
With some preparation and knowledge, you can ski with a little less worry and avoid a season-ending knee injury. 4 Tips to Avoid Knee Injuries While Skiing If you’re thinking about hitting the slopes this winter, you may also be thinking about the possibility of injury. Knee injuries, such as MCL or ACL tears, are some of the most commonly reported injuries among skiers. The knee can be injured when: The lower leg is thrown outward while going downhill The knee is hit directly on its outer side from a collision or fall A jump is landed incorrectly, with your weight back instead of forward The skier points their skis inward (“snowplow” or “pizza” position) to stop or turn How Knee Joint Problems Cause Pain Couple skiing down a trail Knee injuries are some of the most commonly reported injuries among skiers. Read How Knee Joint Problems Cause Pain While these are the most common ways to injure your knee, any fall, collision, or bad landing puts the joint and surrounding ligaments at risk.

GETTING UP AFTER FALLING

in 30 sec
DONT worry about falling. Follow these 4 tips and keep your knees safe. 1. Condition before you ski In the weeks gearing up to ski season, a conditioning routine can help prepare your body for the demanding workout it will get on the mountain. A conditioning routine should focus on: Strength. Strength-building exercises, such as sit-ups and squats, will help build the core and leg muscles needed to ski with confidence and avoid injury. See Advanced Exercise Ball Program for Runners and Athletes Flexibility. Tight muscles are more easily pulled and injured than ones that have been properly stretched. Before you ski, improve flexibility by daily stretching. Balance. Balance and proprioception—the body’s ability to perceive where it is in space—are important aspects of skiing. Improve both by doing special exercises, such as a 1-leg balance, or using a balance board. Watch Video: 3 Simple Exercises to Restore Proprioception Daily running, walking, or cycling can also help prepare you for the cardiovascular demands of skiing. 2. Do a pre-ski warm-up Skiing is no different than any other workout, and a proper warm-up is recommended. Complete 15 to 20 minutes of stretching and aerobic activity, including lunges, squats, arm circles, and groin stretches, to prepare for a full day of skiing. If you don’t have room to stretch, take advantage of the walk (or slow ski) to the chairlift, which will get your body moving, muscles warmed up, and heart pumping. A round of light stretching when you get to the top of the mountain can also help reignite muscles that may have cooled down while sitting on the chairlift.

Skis are constructed to make learning and turning far easier than ever before.

BOOTS

Proper Boot Fitting Boots are the primary connection point your most important piece of equipment. Uncomfortable feet can lead to all kinds of problems heel should remain in place when flexing the knee and ankle forward into the boot.
SOCKS When trying on boots, wear the socks you'll be wearing up to the hill. A medium-weight wool or other moisture-wicking sock is best.
Boot: Comfort snug (not painful) everywhere and fit American sizes and "mondo point," which is the length of the boot in centimeters. Remember, the foam in your boots will pack out slightly as you break them in, so you want them tight at the beginning but not painful.
HEEL should remain in place when bending the knee and ankle forward. Walk around and make sure there aren't any pressure points or spots pinching your feet. Common problem areas include on the bridge of the foot, the heel and around the ankle bones
TOES should barely touch the inside front of the boot and should slide back slightly when you bend your knee forward. Your toes should then pull back, leaving a little wiggle room for comfort.
Make sure there aren't any pressure points or spots that pinch your feet or calves. Remember boots will stiffen in the cold
Don't tuck pant legs into boots. The boots are designed to hug your shin and calf, so you don't want any extra fabric to interfere.
On the ski Bindings hold your boots to the skis and are designed to release when you need them to during a fall
Poles are used to help you with your balance and rhythm while skiing. Poles can be made from fiberglass, aluminum or carbon fiber

Renting skis

inform don’t exaggerate your ability or skiing experience with the technician
Skis should be about chin high for beginners. Specifically, the tip should land between the chin and nose. Edges should be sharp and bases should be freshly waxed.
exact weight, height, age and skier beginners are type I DIN (Deutsch Industrial Norm) setting on the bindings. DIN numbers correspond to the torque needed to release a ski boot out of the binding
KNOW the CODE Responsibility Code Common Sense, it's one of the most important things to keep in mind and practice when on the slopes. helmet use, respect, personal responsibility and common sense are very important when cruising down the mountain. We encourage all skiers and snowboarders to familiarize themselves with the responsibility code below. elements of risk in snow sports that a little common sense and personal awareness can help reduce.
Always stay in control, and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects. People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them. You must not stop where you obstruct a trail, or are not visible from above. Whenever starting downhill or merging into a trail, look uphill and yield to others. Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment. Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas. Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely.
Snowboarding Getting Started: While many snowboards may look similar on the shelf, not all are the same. A number of things influence the performance of a snowboard including the construction material, stiffness, length, weight and shape. As far as length goes, your board should fall somewhere between your chin and your nose (when stood up on its tail) and be wide enough so that your feet don't hang over the edge more than half an inch. Beginners will generally want a more forgiving (softer) board to learn on When renting a board, discuss your riding experience with the technician and don’t exaggerate your ability or experience
Lastly, you'll need to know your stance (regular or goofy). This is different for every person, but is usually the same as the leading foot on skateboards or surfboards. There is no right or wrong here and remember you can always change if you start to find that you’re more comfortable with one foot over the other.

skiing technique

Keeping your hips above the waist
Keeping your arms forward
Maintaining balance and control
You will likely experience varying form throughout the day so you should routinely recognize bad form and correct it.

Common Mistakes

Leaning Back
when you lean back the front of the skis will stop pushing into the snow, and can even come into the air altogether

dont do this first people who know skating can do it easily

UP HILL

Walking up hill side ways
is important to stay with your group
go up and come down
very slowly at first
start with 90 degrees to the down slope

SLOWING STOPPING

this is very important at the begining of the turn
how to stop while sking
do not stop on the middle on of the road
go to the foot path on the hill side
not on the raven side where there is a free fall down the mountain incase you dont stop
the from the heels side only spread your legs the toes part should be close together
not over lapping not touching but almost toching

Side slips

this is the begining of the turn initial movement have to be very very slow till you get your balance on the ski
start with 90 degrees to the down slope
if you angle your legs down u start slipping down
if you lean forward you go back
if you lean back you go forward

TURNS

side slips and plow are very imp at the begining of the turn Parallel truns To start a parallel turn you still need to lean forwards and bring your weight across onto both skis, and to finish a turn you still need to push on the outside/downhill ski. However parallel turns have an extra phase, the edge change, and because the snowplough is not used in the middle of the turn, as you turn through the fall line the skis do not brake at all and you can pick up a lot more speed. Therefore, to be ready for parallel turns, you have to be ready to go a bit faster.

best web site

start with slipping down then gradually trun sking to take a trun start a in the plow postion put weigth on the outer leg in case the inner leg feels stuck in the snow then bend push the inner knee and push it out words so that the ski is on the edge in case u want to slow down after the turn then go back up slope up the mountain
Tom Gellie Teaches
carving turns addictive, fast, fun
TOPPLING earlier edge engagement.
a smoother transition through the turn
more stable at high speed"
like the ski is doing a lot more of the work
able to ski much steeper slopes faster"
